Missing Spring for Tuning
#1

I am working on restoring a 49-1607 and one of the springs for the tuning dial is missing. Does anyone have any recommendations on replacing these springs?

Just cut up and form end hooks from a ball-point pen spring.

Ace Hardware is another Good option for a lot of tiny hardware like the springs. I have improvised using them a few times. You can also find a few springs in old cassette players and video players. The biggest problem for me is tying the knots on the string. What I have been thinking of doing is to use a pair of hemostat clamps to hold the loop and apply a glob of Super glue. The reason is you have to have some tension whilst doing this on the dial spring so it wont slip or be loose and sloppy.

Good ideas... I will have to just hunt around for the right spring and get creative I suppose.
