Philco decal dimensions for 37-665X
#1

Hi again.
Has anyone posted dimensions of the Philco decal for a 37-665X. I'd like to make a decal myself. I only need one, and I really don't want to purchase a full sheet. A pix of one with length or width indicated would be okay. When I had the cabinet refinished years ago, I did not take any pix or measurements of the decal.
thanks

Hi Ken, and welcome!

I've seen two different styles of decals on 1937 Philco models. Most seem to use the 1932-1936 style decal, which looks like this:

These are 1-1/2" long.

The later type (1937 and later) looks like this:

These came in different sizes, a common size being 1-5/8" long.

The later style decals are commonly available from Antique Electronic Supply. The early style was being developed by Rock-Sea Enterprises, and a version is available from Radio Daze, although it is not completely faithful to the original (PH8).

Bear in mind that inkjet printers do not reproduce the gold color accurately. Stewart Schooley had a discussion on this subject on the alt.binaries.pictures.radio newsgroup recently.

Thank you very much Ron.
The pix and dimensions are what I need.
Most people who look at this radio will not know
if the logo is correct or not.
Since I will never sell this radio, whatever I come up with will be
great.
many thanks,
