While cleaning the attic my wife found the case but not the inner workings of my Philco 39-70. I have tried locating a replacement but I'm stuck.
Original or transistor?
Help?

You may want to advertise in the WANTED section here on the Phorum.
The chassis of your 1939 model would be TUBE, not transistor.
Chuck,
Thanks for the information.
I was wondering if an original chassis might be available or if a transistor replacement would be a second choice. I would prefer a tube chassis.

The 39-70 looks to be a typical farm radio from the late 30's.
Farm radios refer to the units built that ran on batteries, and were designed for rural areas prior to electrification.
If you're interested in what the schematic for it looks like, here's a link.

Good luck in your search!
