Philco mystery remote
#1

I recently found this forum and this is my first post!

I have a 39-55 wireless remote radio and about 4 or 5 of the remote units. All of the remotes I have seen have the cabinet with the rounded front and back edges. However, some time ago I found a remote with a different cabinet style which appears to be from the factory. I have not been able to find any information on this particular style and would appreciate any help identifying it.

OK, I'm not sure how to insert a picture of it here, I guess I need help on that too!

Thank you,
Steve

Hi Steve, and welcome!

The 1942 Philco Model 42-1016 used a remote unit that was shaped differently than the earlier ones; this is probably what you have.

Please read my threads on inserting photos in the "How To Use Your Phorum" section.

Basically, your photos need to be hosted on a website or a server dedicated to photo hosting, then you insert a link to your photos into your post.

Hi Ron and thank you,

I suspected that it could be a later model although I never saw it pictured in any ads. It is basically square and bulkier looking.

I will not be able to post the picture as I do not have a website.

Thanks again,
Steve

Here is Steve's Mystery Control:

Note the difference in the styling of this 1942 control compared to the 1939-41 models.

Here's the most often found Mystery Control style for comparison.

Hi- This is my first posting- I fould this list after starting a philco radio oriented group(direct e-mails as opposed to message board) on yahoo groups. But since there's people here, I'll post here as well Icon_smile

I am actually looking for a "Mystery Control" to restore- I have a 39-116 which had the "Mystery Control", but has not got the remote at the moment. If anyone has one in any shape for a reasonable price, please let me know...
(Pics of my Philcos- a 37-650, 39-116, a 41-220 and a 20 are on the yahoo groups "The Philco Radio Group" listing through http://www.yahoogroups.com .)
Thanks

Scott
