Heathkit VTVM need test probes
#1

A friend gave me a Heathkit VTVM. He didn't have the test probe. I have searched for one, but no luck except for eBay, but I never win the bid. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Simple to make. DC volts has a 1/4 jack. Use shielded cable or RG-174 coax. Shield goes to sleeve. The center conductor connects to a 1 meg 1/2 resistor. That connects to the tip of the probe. The other end connect to the tip of the connector. Shield doesn't connect at the probe end.
The Common and AC volts are just wires with with the appropriate connectors. You should be able to find the parts at R/S

Which model did you get?

Hi Terry,

Thanks as always. I can do that. It's an IM-11

He also gave me an Accurate Model 153 Signal Generator/Tracer and an Eico Model 950B Resistance-Capacitance-Comparitor Bridge. The same day a neighbor dropped off a Precision Series 912 Electrodynamic Tube Tester he said was cluttering up his workshop. It is in really good shape.

Feels like an early Xmas around here.

Thanks for the info on building a probe for the VTVM.
