Philco 60 Hum problem
#1

I recapped this Philco awhile back. Sounded fine, but now it has developed an AC hum and lost all reception. I have by-passed and checked both filters and they are fine. If I put my probes on the 42's K and P, no scratching in the speaker. Any suggestions? Also, my Riders says with Run# 7 resistor #19, part # 4518 (5,000 ohm) should be changed to a 99,000 ohm. My schematic shows that resistor #19 is a 51,000 ohm. Any help there as well.
Thanks in advance.

Bill,
This may be a bit too late, but if you still have the hum issue, did you replace the line filter caps? They are a block cap at the bottom near the wirewound resistor with the power cord attached. This should be rebuilt with (2) .01 or .015 caps instead of leaving the old paper ones in. An article on philcorepairbench.com state something about this. Of course, if you look at my new posts re: this radio, you will see that I'm having my troubles too! Best of luck. Ron M.
