Audio input jack on 41-296
#1

This has been asked before, I'm sure, but anyway......there's an RCA jack on the back of my 41-296 (41-285 chassis). There is no band position for it, though. The signal passes thru a cap and then straight to the center lug of the volume control. To test it, I used the ear phone jack of my transistor radio. It works perfectly, regardless of where I'm tuned on the dial. I'm used to installing iPod jacks that cut out the radio, so how does this work?

It couple the external audio straight into the audio stage of the set. If you tune the radio to a local station you will hear both the external and the broadcast signals.

The Peter Balaszy method is better:

It uses a closed circuit jack to cut off the audio from the 2nd detector when a plug in inserted into the jack. This is much better than running audio direct to the volume control, along with the output from the radio's 2nd detector.

DK, I know you said you are already familiar with this circuit...but I'm mentioning it for the benefit of others who may be reading this thread.
