38-116 code 125 missing osc. coil 32-2627 and tuning prob.
#1

First time phorum question... This beautiful old set had it's SW band #3 osc. coil removed during WWII, part # 32-2627...Original owners son has a paper by US Gov't telling him that now that the war is over, they are sorry but they can't find his coil...Now trying to find one...The other SW coils are there, but they were disconnected..Also, after recapping this old timer, I find that on AM BC band, it will not tune below 790 Khz...WGY at 810 is good and we have another local station, WROW at 590 which is silent...I've replaced most every cap except the 400uuf one that is only in circuit in BC position....Any ideas on what may be wrong?

Thanks...Don

Don, Can't help you with the osc. coil, maybe some of the parts suppliers like Gary at Play things of the past may be able to help.
A scan of the mentioned paper from the government would be extremely interesting. Any chance you could get it long enough to scan it?
Thanks, Rick
