Philco 40-180 push button labels

I just finished restoring a Philco 40-180. Now I must put station identifiers where presently only holes exist above each pushbutton. Pictures of other restored 40-180's seem to show the station callsigns attached behind the bezel. Is that the way the factory did it? If installed from the front, what did they use to hold them in place? Joe

Picture please. A lot of these sets used printed paper labels and a bit of clear plastic film inserted in front, but there are many variations.

The 40-180 has eight holes for station id but they are just stamped into the bezel and contain to ridge or slot to hold the paper. I could use sticky backed paper to adhear to the lip inside the hole or mount them from the inside with tape to hold in place. I wonder how the factory did it. Joe

So how did you do it Art? Joe
Sorry, I just realized you are talking about the previous response. I really need someone who has a 40-180. - Joe

They are made out of fairly stiff paper and are a snug fit. I didn't find any evidence of any sort of adhesive. Having said that, cutting those little things so they fit just right is a PITA so I can understand if someone wanted to apply a tiny bit of adhesive to the backs.
The bezel isn't really that light, it's the flash.

Thanks Rocketeer. After looking at your photo I could see that the four buttons on the left had their labels attached from the inside. I tried cutting and installing from the front but you are right, it is a PITA. Took the bezil off and printed the labels in one long strip, fastening them from the inside with a small amount of paper tape. Works great. Thanks again - Joe

Hi guys,
I thought they were inserted individually from the front. IIRC when I got my first 40-180, there were the tabs and also a thin plastic piece over them.
Here are 2 sheets of call tabs I scanned a while back. Posting them at their full res for clarity. For stations that are not listed, just select/copy/paste to make your own custom call latter.
The original paper was a very light yellowish, and the dark color is a very dark brown. Print to the correct size.

Gary, I printed your callsign labels out and the are exactly the right size as they came off my printer. Works great. Saved them on the computer as well for future use. Many thanks - Joe

Happy to post these Joe.
Perhaps Ron can put these in a permanent spot on the forum. I think these are actual Philco sheets, but I have no way to decypher any of the sheet numbers to be sure.

Gary,
Andy here. I just got my grandfather's 40-180 up and running, but I can't seem to find the button labels around anywhere. I see that you previously posted a printout sheet with them, but the link isn't currently available.
Any chance you can repost the labels? Thanks!
R,
Andy Mack

Thanks Ron, I saw the thread you linked to, but I wasn't sure if the '41-'42 tabs would also work.

I was able to find the label sheets at Antique Electronic Supply. Part # P-D130 Call Letter Tabs. They come on sheets that you cut out the tabs
to the size. I'm also trying to figure out how I'm going to secure the paper tabs into to bezel windows.
