Many thanks to my bud John Huffnagle for finding these sets for me!

Below is link to my Philco 38-14 Chairside. Not in bad shape, but dial/pointer are shot. Five tube AC/DC (yech) set, with a decent SW band of 2.3 to 8.0 MHz, which is great for nighttime DXing.

Below link is to my Philco 17X. MAN, I have wanted one of these sets for awhile now. Missing three wooden trim pieces, (one is on top of cabinet),but otherwise in nice shape. Chassis clean and ready to be brought to life!!

Congrats, Tom! Icon_thumbup

Both are great catches; especially the 17XS which may not be a highly desirable radio but is quite rare nonetheless.

Two really nice sets!!! I had that CS set as a 39-7 no sw but was an ac set with pushbuttons. Wish I hadn't sold it a long time back.
Happy restoring!!

You got a couple nice radios. You hardly hear of Philco chairsides, but people around here always crow about Zenith chairsides. Perhaps I need to locate a nice Philco one like that to balance things out. Icon_smile

No matter where you go, there you are.

Philco built lots of chairside models, but I think they gave them a different name. One unfortunate thing is that they usually put low end chassis in the later chairside sets, like five and six tube jobs. I think that the best model from 1938 had a 38-7 chassis in it. It seems that most of the Philco chairside sets I've seen are older units like the 370 Lazyboy or the 71LZ Lazyboy.
