Help Philco 37-84 doubts
#1

Hello.
I'm repairing a Philco 37-84 but I have a problem. I found a disconnected cable and I do not know where to connect it. I've shown in the photo.

Where should this be connected?
Thanks,
Carlos

Carlos, I believe that is the "gimmick" that is described in the following: http://www.philcorepairbench.com/tips/svctip43.htm . I can't quite tell where the lead goes but it sure looks like it. The "cut" end does not connect to anything but the lead is capacitively coupled to the circuit.

After replacing defective capacitors and seristors the radio does not work. Does the typical click when I connect the antenna, but does not receive stations.
I think the problem is in the adjustable buttons. But I do not know how to make this adjustment and I dare not touch. I have no tools for adjustment
What do you recommend?

You know what it looks very much like? Philco 80jr. Even the underbelly looks the same.

Went to look. Well, there is not much to both this and jr. Schematics are very similar, except this one uses pentodes in det-osc and 2nd det.

Well, use a variac, isolating transformer and start measuring voltages. We need to know what they are before we get to touch anything at all.

Indeed, the primary oscillator coil was open. I've already extracted, as you can see in the photo.
Thanks for your help.

Time to break out the 38G wire (or so) It's about 25turns and make sure you wind it the same direction as the original. Also turn the volume control all the way up and measure the resistance from the ANT post to gnd. If it is open you will need to rewind the primary on the ant coil too.

Renovated Radios do carry what you need. As for the voltage, a wire should be at least 300V-rated.morzh — 11:13 PM
