I Lied......Bought Another Radio
#1

Yes I said I was done buying radios. A statement that shouldn't have been made since I can't seem to enforce it.

Found this Norwegian radio on the bay and could not resist. I have never seen a Norwegian radio before, and since my grandparents on my Dad's side came over her from Norway, well here it is Icon_mrgreen

From circa 1965 Regent 652 5 band large table model in very nice condition. 10" speaker and 5 tubes. Measures 24.4" X 12.6" X 7.1" and only 3000 made.

Very Nice!

Nice. It is mint, or looks like it.
#4

It plays?

Art,
It hasn't arrived yet. These are the sellers pictures. according to the description, it plays well on all bands. I shall see.

Thanks for the comments! It looks to be in excellent condition.

It does indeed, it does indeed! Let's hope it arrives the way it looks.

Works does not mean much - you will have to recap etc etc anyway unless it is "restored" in which case you will have to inspect it.

Uncanny styling resemblance to my Tandberg Solvsuper from ~1940.

That was what I was thinking X-Ray Bill, the dial and control layout doesn't look like a mid 1960s radio, maybe late 1940s early 50s at the newest. Then you look at the back and you can clearly see that the cabinet is made out of particleboard, maybe with teak veneer, but still particleboard, unfortunately.
Those fan/rainbow shaped dials were quite popular in Canada at one time, I have two DeForest Crosley sets that have a similar dial, some Canadian Majestics were similar.

We call it "All this great variety of wine was bottled from the same barrel".

The labeling of radio dials with cities seems very strange these days with all the bizarre call letter, frequency and even city changes, from someone who worked in the industry
for 44 years I have seen it all (far more than I ever wanted to see) When money people replaced dedicated broadcasters they started to kill the goose that laid the golden egg.
I still love the Packard Bell radios with the call letters on the dial....these days you would need a new dial glass every six months or sooner with the idiotic parking of call letters
for sometimes only days at a time. The FCC is to blame for allowing it but I suppose it must be because of fear of the source of all evil in the world... a law suit by the scumbag loy-ers
as Michael Savage would say.
