41-280 antenna
#1

I can only pick up one local station with the volume nearly full. the radio has been recapped and tubes replaced as needed. I am using the original antenna. Is there a way to use an external antenna to increase the reception? thanks for the help.

I have run across a few *shorted orig antennas* before on radios of this vintage, and a few that had broken wire(s) upon close inspection. Also, have you "peaked" the IF cans adjustment screws for max performance? Sometimes that will bring the volume up tremendously on a out-of-alignment set previously serviced by someone that didnt know how to do so.

I agree with tex. Sounds like you have a problem elsewhere. Once that is dealt with it should receive pretty well even without an external antenna. But if you still want to add one there are ways...just might not payoff if there are other things amiss.

Thanks much for the help! I'll take your advice and check the existing antenna as well as doing some tweeking. Thanks again.
