The model 70 cathedral should be totally manageable, fleabay has at least 1/2 dozen of those listed every week. Even the model 90 cathedral should not be too hard to find, especially the version with the single #47 output tube. In keeping with the chair-side theme you could look for one of the ones with a 70 or 71 chassis in it, that would fill the console and and chair-side quota at the same time.
The 15X sets do seem to turn up on there at least once a month or so, but finding one within driving distance is the issue. The 15DX may be a different story, the sales figures were at least 10:1 in favor of of the 15X over the 15DX.
As for the 38-690, that may be a tough one, but they do seem to turn up when you least expect it.

I don't really have a bucket list as such but I wouldn't mind finding a Canadian Majestic Queen Mary, Rogers 10-12, a Deforest Crosley Jupiter, or a Deforest Crosley Gilbert (the 12 tube brother to my Brahms) or the Rogers versions of the same.
I also would like to find one of the larger tube count Grimes-Phonola/Dominion Electrohome consoles from the 1930s. Of course I am open to pretty much any pre war Electrohome product for the right price, or Canadian G.E for that matter. In terms of G.Es I have a soft spot for any of the sets built between 1933 and the 1937 model years, I have two of the square dial tombstone sets.

I already got two of my radios checked off the list already. I nabbed a 90 lowboy yesterday and I kinda forgot about my Philco Grandfather Clock radio I half own with my mom. That has the 70 chassis in it. I was hoping to talk the same guy I got my 90 off of out of his Philco chairside. I can't recall the model right now, but it has the 90 or 91 chassis in it with the separate speaker. Sadly, he won't let it go as he keeps saying he is going to put it in his home. The finish is totally gone off one side of the speaker cabinet now and is starting to flake off of the legs of the chairside unit. Another year or so and it will start getting peeling veneer at the rate things are going in that back room.

I know all about that sort of "Collector" I've bought sets that used to belong to that kind, basically radio hoarders is what they are. I have some issues with acquiring one too many sets but they are always kept in dry storage, not a dilapidated porch or basement, and I definitely have ones in mind that I intend to part with.
I can tell that the 90 lowboy you picked up was headed in the same direction, spots of chassis rust, lacquer starting to lift. I think that if you had not rescued that set it would have been reduced to parts set status in a few years. The LZ combo you mentioned probably was a 91LZ, they are supposed to have a cable running between the speaker cabinet and the control portion.

That's what the chairside was, a 91LZ and it is all complete with the cable. The unit was beautiful when I saw it for the first time five years ago, but Ohio's increasingly humid summers and damp winters, along with two recent water pipe bursting incidents in the old building are taking their toll. I must admit, his stuff did keep well for the first few years I knew him, but the shifting climate is causing too wild of swings in temps and humidity anymore. I've even been fighting degradation of some non-radio items I have in dry storage myself the past couple years. I have had moisture getting into things I have never seen it get into before.

It's a 91RX (not LZ). I had one for several years and never did anything with it. I think Tom (TA) Forbes has it now.

I don't have any more room at home now but I still have a 509X on my list. My latest addition was a 1961 Maggie Concert Grand and I had been looking for several years for a nice one of them. 42 tubes and 16 6V6 outputs and 5 chassis. I just bought an original remote control for it off ebay this week to complete the set.

Yes, TA does have the 91RX. It is planned for a resto this summer, provided that nothing "wonderful" happens. Currently I have the 91, a 14, a 17, a 19, and 38-14 chairsides.

Good thing I have lots of chairs.

Bruce, that Magnavox sounds like a flame-thrower!!

Thanks to RON I now pay more attention to them when I see/find them. VERY impressive sets, although they are more modern than what I usually go for (1930-38 ).

Thanks for the correction, Ron. Jerry, I already have a very nice 111 highboy in the collection, though I suppose I could go for a 112X if one ever appears in my area again.

Some day I wish I could purchase a 38-690 console radio. But by then I think it would be to costly for me.

I would not mind one of the larger 1937-38 Philco consoles, but then again between the modular chassis and the coil problems they can be a dog so I am not going out of my way to acquire one.

I don't really have a list, I guess, but two radios I would love to have are a nice condition Grebe Synchrophase, and one of the Art Deco Midwest consoles like the DD-18. Yeah, I know they aren't Philcos...but I have a few nice (IMHO) Philcos already.
