Flea Market Trio w/2 Philcos!
#1

The flea market was good to me again today. For $65 I was able to walk (actually run) away with these. Had to do some research to learn a little about the non-Philco unit. It's a Western Air Patrol Model 56 complete with optional chassis leaf and two tone (black/white) heavily taped and spliced power cord. Guess what gets replaced first?

Why can't I find deals like that? Very nice and although I'm not into "plastic radios" the Hippo is one I really like.

I'm not as much into the plastic radios myself but I like the unique design AND this one is in very nice cosmetic shape, inside and out! There are no cracks or scratches in the case. Just needs a little cleaning and a light polishing. Not sure about the electronics yet.

You will probably find that the Western Air Patrol set was made by Gilfillan, either Gilfillan or Packard Bell in the Los Angeles area.
