40-201 Dial Background Color
#1

The dial background for my 40-201 is quite faded. I brushed it off with a camel hair artists brush, but it is not very presentable. It appears to be a piece of paper that is flocked with a very short knap. The color appears to have been brown or perhaps wine. Can someone confirm the color? Has anyone tried re-coloring this surface?

I reflocked a dial scale tray on a 41-295 with great success using, masking tape, spray adhesive and small bottle of chocolate brown flocking material. It worked nicer than I imagined. Apply the adhesive and flocking liberally.

As I recall, mine was medium to darkish brown. Not very dark, however.

Ron and Sourbone;

OK, thanks, this gives me something to shoot for. I was not sure if it was a brown or a wine color to go with the push-buttons.

I was thinking about something I could compare the original color to. I think perhaps a bit lighter than chocolate milk. Does that work for you?

Unfortunately when I sprayed WD-40 on the push-button switch assembly some of it dripped onto the flocked dial backing. I may have to use some lighter fluid to blot out the oil from that before I can do anything toward re-flocking the dial backing. Thanks for the input on the color.

Joe
