Need parts list for 41-285
#1

Hi everyone,

First time to the phorum. I am working on a Philco 41-285 and could really use the parts list portion of the service manual (or the whole thing, really, if it's a good clear scan). All I can find is the basic schematic; I could really use the parts list. Thank you!

I'd suggest you buy a copy of the original Philco schematic and service package from Chuck Schwark at this site: http://www.philcorepairbench.com/ (See "schematic info" on the sidebar on the left.)

They are clearly copied and often include large format schematics, production changes and so on that you might not get from the poor copies available for free.

They are inexpensive and well worth it, IMHO.

It is a little odd that the free schematic scans for the 41-250, 280, 285, 290 series of radios don't have parts lists. I've found the same thing.

Thanks John. Here's a link that you all might want; though it is obviously not comprehensive, I found complete schematics, parts lists etc. for many different Philcos, including mine. Super clear scans, too:

Diverted, I've tried this site before, but I can never get the djvu files to work. There's probably a djvu viewer out there that works, but none have ever worked for me. What's your secret?

John, there is no secret from my end. I just downloaded the file in that DJVU (?) format. When I tried to open it my Mac automatically asked if I wanted to instal DJVU viewer. I clicked yes, it installed and now I can read the files.
If you are having problems with this, I can help you. The program converts the files into PDF. If there is a specific file you need, let me know. I will download it, convert it and email it back to you.

Thanks,

Ted

Ha, ha, I had no sooner sent my last post about having trouble with DJVU files than I thought, "I bet Diverted has a Mac." I'm sure it makes some things easier. I'm using one of Bill Gate's products. I'm reasonably sure I can figure out how to open and convert DJVU files if I Google it, but it sure would be cool to have the machine do that for me.

Thanks for the offer to convert DJVU files for me. There aren't any I need at the moment, but I might take you up on it later.

Any time. I'll make PDFs for anybody here who can't convert/open these files.
Also, John, try this link. It looks like a pretty simple PDF converter. Good luck.
