46-480 FM Antenna Question
#1

Can anyone tell me what the female connector on my 46-480 labeled as "FM Antenna" is for? Is my radio missing something? I have no FM reception at this time. Also, how do you set the station preset switches? In modern lingo, how do you program them? Thanks!

Your radio is missing the male plug with a pair of wires that hang out the back. That is your FM antenna. FM reception is impossible without it.

Setting the pushbuttons is easy. Move bandswitch position to P.B., press button to be set. Go behind the radio, adjust the threaded rod for the button depressed to tune in the station, adjust the trimmer (antenna) just above the threaded rod for maximum volume.

Thank you Richard. I guess the question now is how do I work around this or find an original plug with wires? The schematic shows a brown wire and a white wire coming out of the male connector and a length of 45". I'm seeing that only two wires of the plug are utilized. Is this the antenna and is it routed around the perimeter of the cabinet?

Hi and welcome!

You asked:

Yes, and yes. Icon_smile

Two wires may be used, or if you plan to keep your radio in one location, you may connect an FM dipole to those terminals. The wires should do fine, however.
