Model 610 electrolytic condensers
#1

I'll be replacing the electrolytic condensers in my Model 610. It uses two 8 Mfd condensers (Part No. 30-2025) and one 16 Mfd condenser - Part No. 30-2118. What voltage rating should I use?

500V is all you need.

Hello Kestas, I am preparing to rebuild a 610 myself. I am finishing my 70, and as soon as it is off the bench, I am going to start on it. I parallelled Morzh with the 70 and it was a tremendous help. Watch for my thread soon.

If you perhaps take pictures before starting, could you take a closeup of the area that has the resistors R39, R40, and R42? That area in my unit was repaired at one point, and I'd like to verify the connections and appearance of the resistors. R39 looks charred on mine, even though it ohms out okay.

I ordered the info from Chuck Schwark (Philco repair bench). There is a link on the home page. It'll show a lot of info incl the underside of the chassis for component location. My Riders manual didnt have underside part locations. Mine has been hacked pretty good, but I dont know yet if it has been worked on in the same area or not. I'll check in a couple days and try to get a shot on here. I may ask the same of you unless ours have had the same repairs.

I have a copy of the chassis underside layout it in my files. Plus, it's 600 dpi. I enlarged it electronically and wanted to send it with my previous post, but the file size is too big. If you want something more legible, PM me where I can send the 900K file.

Before every radio, I prep the schematic and other paperwork so I have an easy time understanding where everything is once I dig into it.

Kestas, here are a couple of pics from that area. It doesnt seem to be disturbed other than the E caps replaced. Hope this helps.

I could use a pic of the area of the "45" bakelite if yours is intact.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Here is the area around #45. Let me know if you need it sketched out.

Thanks for the pic! It helps a lot. Looks like mine has had a couple of resistors replaced also. On the #23 bakelite, they have cut the middle lead off on mine, but I dont see where they have soldered anything in its place. Weird. The electrolytic caps, one has 450v stamped on it, but it wouldnt hurt anything to go 500v like Morzh mentioned.
