Here is the 90 but I need some suggestions about what to do.

The finish on the arch and face are in good condition so I don't think I want to disturb them but the finish on the moulding is not good.

Question 1.
Do I strip the entire cabinet to make it uniform or try to keep it as original as possible?

I love original but wont it look funny having pristine molding and then some imperfections on the face and arch?

I do not want my opinion to count as binding (this 90 is also mine) - the sole reason for the work for me was the crack in the base trim, but if you think modt finish is OK, would it make sense to fix the bas molding and the columns and be done?

All in all, I know exactly deedly squat about cabinet repair so....opinions of other folks who have done this a lot should be solcited.

Don't know if this is possible, but you might be able to strip the molding, tone it, lightly sand the arch and face (maybe 320 or 400 grit) just to smooth out the clear finish that is still there but not go into the toner, and then coat the entire cabinet with clear gloss lacquer and rub out??? I think I've read threads from some of the more experienced folks who have refinished only portions of a cabinet. Some of them will surely also comment.

Yes, Restoring and repairing the molding is my vote also and then clearing the whole cabinet.

Well, we have concensus!

Took out the face and started gluing the front molding. someone tried gluing it with goop and tried filling it with PLASTER!

Then I took the cabinet to taping and began stripping the cabinet.

That guy who sold it to me (not on the cheap either) was very proud of his restoration. Both cabinet and electrical. The ectrical part was not that great. Which should've told me something about the cabinet.

Took the face and 1000 grit sanded the pre-existing finish. Then cleared the face. the re-flow worked pretty well. It has the look of age but the protection of a new piece. What do you think Mike?

As for the cabinet I taped off all the parts I will keep original and meticulously stripped all the molding. Glued and filled a few problem spots and tomorrow I will tone the cabinet.

What toner was used for the 90 trim? same as the 70?

Maybe a few heavy coats of medium brown?
