This is where it really starts to look like a Philco 70!

Adding gussets

Installing the rear arch support
[Image: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4438/3724...9f32_z.jpg]105_0946 by Steve Davis, on Flickr
First I measure each side of the arch support to make sure the support is centered.

[Image: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4466/3722...1214_z.jpg]105_0947 by Steve Davis, on Flickr
After the support is centered, I make a small tick mark so I will be able to install the support back in the same spot.

I glued the edge of the support and clamped in place. You can see that I have used a piece of scrap around the outside so the clamps don't damage the wrap-around.

Gussets have been added to the rear arch support.

The stiffeners are cut slightly long then squeezed into placed with clamps. This pushes the arch up and takes the bow out of the sides.

Moulding has been mitered and fit to the cabinet. It has not been attached because, I prefer to finish the moulding before installing.

The front panel

[Image: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4384/3722...429a_z.jpg]105_0966 by Steve Davis, on Flickr
The front panel has been veneered.

I have sealed and grain filled the front panel blank before cutting it out. It is much easier to fill and sand a solid sheet. This picture was taken before wiping the filler off.

[Image: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4388/3741...8eaa_z.jpg]105_0969 by Steve Davis, on Flickr
I have attached the panel to the pattern and drilled the starter holes.

Using a Dremel tool with a modified router attachment to chamfer the speaker cutout. I ha ve re-ground an original Dremal router bit to match the profile Philco used.

[Image: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4354/3727...6b41_z.jpg]105_1010 by Steve Davis, on Flickr
The dark toner has been sanded off the face of the front panel and two more coats of clear have been sprayed.
