Which one? Regular DeOxit will damage many of the old Philco controls causing symptoms much like yours.

This is the stuff I use. I would really hate if it was bad!!

Yes, use the green "stuff". If that is like the regular (black can) deoxit it is bad for Philco pots that are not wire-wound and can cause all kinds if audio problems.
