Thanks guys! One last little task was to reproduce the missing chassis support board. This was made possible by another 38-7CS owner who kindly supplied a tracing and measurements.

I picked up a nice piece of 3/4" birch plywood and cut it out with a circular saw.

Now the tricky bit - I need to drill holes for the rubber chassis mounts at just the right location. I put a drop of red paint on the chassis rods and carefully set the board in place. Now I know exactly where to drill Icon_smile

I used 1" and 1/2" forstner bits to create a stepped hole. It's a perfect fit.

Finally I give it a few coats of Rustoluem camouflage brown paint.

I've been following your videos on YouTube for this (and the electrical restoration). Excellent work Bob!! I was never a fan of chairsides but after seeing yours I want to go out and get one!

I finally finished rubbing out the finish and assembled the radio Icon_smile

I used Behlen Deluxing compound for the final step.

The speaker mounted screws were painted with Rustoleum Dark Walnut gloss enamel. It's the closest I've found the the original color.

Someday I'll get around to replacing the grille cloth.

Soaked the knobs in diluted, warm dishwashing liquid to remove years of crud.

Here it is all back together next to my new sofa. I discovered the shelf is a nice spot to store a laptop.
