I just finished the chassis inside this radio:

It's too cold here to start doing any cabinet work yet, but I wanted to show you what the cabinet of this radio looks like and also illustrate many of its problem areas.
First of all, I should mention that there should be small wood blocks inside the cabinet, which the tops of both dial scales should be screwed onto to hold them in place. These blocks are missing inside the cabinet. This should not be a big deal to reproduce.
It's the many faults in the veneer that is going to be the problem.
Looking at the left side, you will notice many "fleabites" along the edge.
[Image: http://www.philcoradio.com/images/phorum...88_059.jpg]
The right side has even larger places where veneer is missing:
[Image: http://www.philcoradio.com/images/phorum...88_060.jpg]
Top right, above the right "spread-bands" dial: Notice that not only is a chunk of top layer veneer is missing, but the substrate is gone as well:
[Image: http://www.philcoradio.com/images/phorum...88_061.jpg]
And...the entire strip of decorative tiger-stripe walnut, with the grain running vertically, is missing above both dials and the speaker grille opening:

I was going to seek help in repairing this cabinet from one of the fine artisans here on the Phorum, but with me still out of work, I think I am going to have to tackle it myself.
I am open to suggestions.

Yeah, Kirk will probably trade chassis work for cabinet work.

P.M. me for my address and I'll get it done when I can... After Mikes nightmare cabinet!. Cant tone or anything due to winter but can do the veneer.
Happy Thursday Boys and Gal,

Kirk
Seriously?!?
Wow...thanks ! Yes, to be honest, I think I would rather do the toning/finishing myself. Even though I think you would do a better job at it than I would, just repairing the veneer issues would be a big help.
I'll have to have some custom decals made for this cabinet. I'm not going to use the currently available decals for this one as they are not to my liking. Yah, I'm being picky.

Sam, You know you can drop off a cabinet any time!
Mikes cabinets are small?
What are you smoking?
Don't worry Mike, yours have priority and Now there is less chassis for you to fix!
