My 116B drifts about 100kz from start-up until good stablity about one half hour later, most noticeable on the 4.1 to 10kz band. Would this drift be considered normal. Thanks.

What is 4.1 to 10kz band, never heard of such.
No, drift of such magnitude is abnormal. Look at the heterodyne oscillator. Has the radio been recapped? People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

He meant to say 4.1 to 10 MHz, or mc if you prefer. Band 4 on the 116 scale.

Just a few things to check. The plate voltage on the 76 tube to see if it is constant if not check the 10k resistor and the 1mf cap. Replace 76 tube. Clean band switch contacts and 76 socket.

Clean band switch contacts and 76 socket. Thank you for the ideas, I believe I have another 76 tube to try. I did replace all the caps and resistors, except for a few micas. I found the micamold micas to be leaky, the Cornell Dubliers checked ok, may recheck those.
