Philco 38-7 Chairside switch question
#1

Hello all, I am getting going on my Philco 38-7 code 124 run #2. What is the purpose of the audio shorting switch that is used on the model 38-7 only? This is connected to the selector arm. Also, it looks like someone added an audio jack (RCA jack) to the wiper of the volume pot. My Rider volume list of changes doesn't show this; just want to be sure this wasn't a factory option or change. Thanks for any info!

The mute switch is use so that when you use the conecentric tuning it mutes the audio when tuning. It's used on a few models like the 38-22 and the larger console models like the 37-116 code 122, and the '38 model, 37-690,38-690...
Philco didn't use a RCA connector on any of pre war sets, they used record player with a built in phono oscillator like the RP-1,2,3,4.
