Philco 46-350 handle help
#1

I rebuilt my Philco 46-350 and it works well, but the reproduction handle was very difficult to install, and is the wrong color. I think the leather on the reproduction is far too thick. I could not tighten down the metal handle retainers until I used a sharp knife the whittle down the thickness of the ends of the strap. Has anyone else had the same problem? Do you know of more than one handle source?

As far as I know, Wayne Thompson is the only person making reproduction handles for the 46-350.

I have used one of his handles before on a 46-350 I restored for a client, and I did not have to whittle down the ends, but it was rather difficult to install.

The seller is refunding the purchase price.

Does anyone have an alternate source? I think it needs to have a piece of spring steel inside.
