cloth hook-up wire question

There are a number of types of cloth covered wire available. One is the lacquered braid type with modern plastic insulation underneath. This wire is available from a number of sources, Radio Daze, AES etc.

There is another type available, which is the waxed cotton type used in 1930's Philco and many other radios. This wire is being reproduced by Gavitt Wire, a company which has been making it for restoration of early electric guitars where it was originally used. It is identical to the thin cotton covered wire used in the 20's and 30's radios and very authentic. There are a number of companies on ebay selling the wire in black, white and other colors. Both stranded and solid 22 gauge are available.
