46-480 FM problem

I'm looking at a restored 46-480 that has no FM. I read somewhere that an open cap in the IF can can do this. So, while I've fixed some IF cans with SMD, I'm not sure how to open this one. I've taken the 2 screws off under the chassis that hold the can. What's next?

All I can see to move is a little protruding tab on one side at the bottom. Is this the secret for lifting the IF can off of the guts? I'm hoping that I don't have to unsolder umpteen wires.

If there is no nut at the top then yes, the tab is the key.

It is much easier to remove the can from the coils inside if the wires are unsoldered and the entire thing removed as one piece. Then you will see a brass piece of metal that goes across the bottom of the IF transformer assembly itself (what you are seeing as a tab - it actually goes across the bottom of the assembly), fitting into two holes on either side of the can. This can be pushed up from underneath slightly, just enough to make it come free. It might be possible to remove this brass piece while leaving the can and assembly in place, but I would imagine it would be rather difficult to do.
