AM transmitter
#1

In an effort to respect the authenticity of my radio, I ordered an AM transmitter kit off the Bay.  I don't yet have an antenna, and but wanted to show off the case I made for it.  Basically, I aged a couple sheets of printer paper in coffee then used them to print out the 1941 Philco ad posted on the Phorum. I then decoupaged them onto the cardboard box that came with the transmitter kit.

Nick, that is cool and creative. I have one of the AES kit trannys that my daughter got me a couple years ago, but only have it on a board. Uses a 6 inch copper wire for an antenna. Works pretty well, not great through walls and such. Don't know if a different antenna would help. How is the one you have for distance and clarity. Mine seems to get a bit fuzzy at times even though it stays in the same place mostly. Sidenote: I play hockey at the Laurel Ice Gardens with a bunch of other old guys. Ed in Rockville

Longer ant wire will make a big difference in how your little AM transmitter works. The transmitter is around 100MW of power with your set up I would guess output is around 4-5 MW at best. Look up Standing Wave Ratio and have a good read. David
