Philco 37-84 filter caps polarity
#1

Working on a Philco 37-84, and ready to re-stuff the filter caps can (30-2013A).  Since the polarity of the caps aren’t indicated on the schematic and before I totally mess up, thought I’d better ask first.  I’m thinking the negative side of the 8uf and 4uf, both tie to the transformer center tap, with the positive sides to the speaker field coil.  Correct??? or am I totally backwards?

Thanks!

You are correct, the connection to the centertap of power transformer is always negative and to this rule there is no exceptions in tubes radios.

Of course it is possible to create a circuit where the centertap would be the plus....but it seems no one wanted to do it.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Thinks Morzh for the quick reply.  I thought that was correct, but my brain isn't a young as it use to be. ha

Thank you again,

Hoke
