Wrong POT + resistor = right POT ???

If original volume POT is 2 MOhms with a 1 Meg Ohm center tap - but I found a new replacement POT which is 1.5 Mohm with a .75Mohm center tap, can I make this into the correct POT by adding in a .5Mohm resistor to one of the end terminals and a .25Mohm resistor to the center TAP in order to make it have the same resistance as the original specifications? The resistors would be added in series between the terminal(s) and whatever normal connection would have been attached directly to the terminal.

My first thought is no...

However, try lashing up the new pot and resistor, don't mount it and try it to see if you get the desired results. IMHO the tap is for tone and the radio may not sound right at lower volume settings. The speaker must be in its baffle to get the proper acoustical response.

You can get the exact part from Mark Oppat oldradioparts.net. GL Chas

Hi I would try it I doubt you would notice any difference from original with out adding resistors.
