Philco 116 chassis
#1

I picked up what was advertised as a Philco 116b chassis.  The layout seems a bit different in the back as far as the electrolitics and the ant grd terminals.  Could this be a 116X chassis is there a difference between the 116 chassis?

Yes you hit the nail on the head it's a X chassis. You can tell by the 4 pin tube sockets (you got too many of them). And the power transformer is bigger. The X uses 4pin output tubes (6B4's).

Devil in the details...

Thanks for the assist.   At least I now know what kind of cabinet and speaker I need to start looking for.

I'm not sure but I've not seen one with that switch by the shadow meter. I have both the X and B models. That chassis might be from a PX that's a 116X w/phono in the top. Pretty low production numbers. Jeff W out in California has one.

That switch looks like something added by a repairman or "restorer" years after the set was built.

The chassis had paperwork for the switch install, so I agree with Ron I think it was an add on by someone later down the road.
