37-116 shadow meter adjustment
#1

I had to move the shadow meter so i could move the chassis back an inch to get to one of the alignment screws for station alignment.
When i put the meter back in and turned on the set the shadow had visibly narrowed.   I played again with the the alignment screws and that was not it.   I have read the shadow meter tutorial  https://www.philcorepairbench.com/shadow...justments/   and he refers to moving the coil back and forth.
Not sure how that is done, he is not clear,   although the plastic ring that has ridges on it does rotate.
Before i start rotating anything further...is this what he refers to as moving the coil back and forth..by rotating this ring?

Thanks

The coil itself (with its ridged plastic rings) literally can be pushed and pulled a short distance on the shadow meter body. This is the reference meant by "moving the coil back and forth".

Thanks Ron,

That did the trick, and makes more sense now. Shadow dial function back to where it was.
