Do any of the collectors out there have for sale any of the half round fluted trim that fits the top edges of the 1931 Bel Geddes designed cabinets? I just got a 370 chair side that’s missing 2 sections about 8” long. if no one has any of the original for sale, does anyone have any reproduction for sale or tips on how to make it? it appears from photographs that I have seen that a lot of these are missing pieces of that trim, I’m pretty sure I’m not the first one too have experienced this. One method that some have used is to get some hardwood dowel, of the appropriate diameter, and cutting a flat onto one side to duplicate missing portions of the bead. I don't know if anyone is duplicating strips of molding for these, It could be done, but I think the way they made it was by running boards through a shaper, or molding head cutter, and then cutting it into strips, likely gluing and nailing it on.
