41-250 console vs table model
#1

Can someone please tell me if there is any difference in the chassis for a table model versus a console. In other words are they wired up the same? I only physical difference I see is 6" vs. 12" speakers. My schematic dosen't show any difference that I can see. Thanks for any help, Bill

Hi

The console version is officially model 41-280, not 250. The 41-250 is a table model.

There is very, very little difference between the two. I don't have my schematics in front of me at present, but right now the only difference I can think of is the metal shield over the power transformer in the 41-250, and the lack of same in the 41-280. Of course, the 280 also has a larger loop antenna.

Thanks Ron. I ment to say 250 vs. 280 but forgot. The reason I was asking this was that I have a 280 I've been working on which won't put out any sound and recently acquired a 250 which does work. In comparing the 2 I found two spots where the capacitors are installed differently so I made the 280 like the 250 but no change in my problem. O well I'll just keep plugging away and hopefully I'll find the answer.

Check for an open power output transformer, the result will be no "B" voltage on the plate of one or both of the power output tubes, you can use an ohmmeter to check the primary or a voltmeter to check for missing voltage.
