I have replaced all the caps including the filter caps, but none of the ceramic ones. I get a motorboating audio sound that has a frequency change with the changing of the volume control level. I can hear a faint station in the background. Has anyone had this problem with this chasis and can lead me in the right direction to fix the radio? I am new to this so bear with me if I seem like I don't know what I am doing. I am working on repairing my grandmothers mod 46 1213 that her father bought for her new back in 1946 or 47. I am needing to replace the capaciter that connects the phonograph wit h the speaker but don't know what to replace it with as there are no markings. Also, I need to replace a couple of the winged light bulbs, but have no idea on those either. FInally, does anyone have a copy of the schematic they can post for me on how to rerun the radio knob wire?thanks in advance
Hello,
Good evening. I'm impressed with the efforts of the fellow forum folks.
i just got a Philco 16 console. It looks just like another console I have at home, but slightly different. For starters the label says "Philco 16", on my other console it says "Philco 16x". Is that significant?
I have a great Brother-in-law He picked up this Philco 625-s for me last Sunday!
I am new to the forum, and new to radio restoration.
I recently came across a Philco M-1430 portable record player/phonograph. I've tried to do some research on this particular model but have been unsuccessful. I was wondering if anyone knew if this is rare or potentially valuable? It's in pretty good condition and still plays with no problems. It has all the original paperwork. Any help would be appreciated! I have recapped and changed resistors as required, installed a solid state vibrator and added new buffer cap. I have 212v at the rectifier. The manual oscillator coil was open, fixed that and the tuning condenser came to life. My problem is that I can only receive at 1570 kc and 1120kc at the same time and nothing else anywhere on the dial. When the presets are selected, nothing on the first 2 (580 to 1050kc) 3 is a weaker version of 4 and 5 (900 to 1580) which are loud and clear with 2 stations which sounds exactly like manual dial. The 1570 is a very strong local station. I noticed that the 2 station I receive are 455 kc apart. Alignment? The Philco sheet says to send 455kc thru .1mf cap to the antenna receptacle. I did that and the maximum output is where I have it, but no change in reception. I really like to figure as much of this kind of stuff out myself, but this beyond my diagnostic ability. Thanks for your thoughts Today I found a model #296 Concert Grand radio and phonograph. This fits into a corner and has a record player with side record storage. I was told that about only 300 were made and cost $350.00 back in 1930. This is in excellent condition cabinet wise. I was unable to get a good look at the chassis. The asking price is $1995.00.The turntable is in perfect condition. Suppose to all work,"a certain guy is the only one allowed to demonstrate it". I found it during my lunch hour, at an antique store. It is beautiful. Ron... in your book 1928-1942 it only shows a drawing. I frequent this store and I'm sure they will let me take some photos. Let me know if you want me to try. |
