Fred;
  Whilst they tend to look all right cosmetically I have read complaints on the alternative forum, and perhaps here from time to time, that the material used is either thinner or less rigid then the originals. In many cases it wouldn't matter but on some sets, such as a Philco Hippo model, the original back was a lamination of black cardboard and veneer because the back was held in place by the tension of spring clips and the repro ones tend to bend too much. Another example, not that most Americans would have to deal with one, are the backs used on Northern Electric model 1000 series sets, the originals were made out of a stiff brown material similar to the material used in something like a resistor board from an early 30s RCA/G.E, not simply cardboard, though I have seen similar material used in the backs of other AC/DC or AA5 sets like an RCA Nipper from 1940.
Regards
Arran
