To rotate antennae?
This one though is the controller, I think. The actual rotator has a motor (selsyn) to rotate the antenna. People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Pretty much worthless. When my pals were reading comic books I was down in the basement in my dad's workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to figure out what all those squiggly meant. Circa 1966 Now I think I've got! Terry

yes, we did not have one of those but I remember folks who did (or one like it). The antenna on the roof or chimney could be rotated to get better reception depending on what TV channel you wanted to watch. The controller dial was rotated to align the antenna with the compass direction noted on the dial.

Yes, I used to have one of those, not philco but another brand. That's the control to rotate the antenna. There is also a motor on the roof hooked to the antenna.

Hello Friends
Yes , you are right . It' s a controller to make a motor rotate the antenna on the mast I used a french one in the 70 ' s when I played DXTV in my appartment , located in the surroundings of Paris . With a big antenna , I used to catch Bruxxelles , Luxembourg from a distance of about 300 Km;and many other emitters from East of Europe , Russia , Scandinavia . Germany . I wish you a nice week end cordially Claude http://www.ebay.fr/itm/like/182776757022...dispItem=1 https://www.google.fr/search?q=rotor+d%2...-cL0F1lpgM:

How far is 300 Km?

Divide by 1.61 to get miles

There was a plan in the 1970s to move the USA to the metric system, like the rest of the world. It got cancelled in the '80s, so we still use miles, gallons, pounds, drams, gills, grains, bushels, knots, pecks, and other useful units of measure.
A few metric items survived, though. Your 5 grain aspirin tablet is now 325 mg, and you 4/5 quart whiskey bottle is 750 ml. John Honeycutt
