I unhooked wire from the if to grid of second detector and put a 4 meg resistor to ground and a .047 cap and used a second radio to drive the audio amp and there was no distortion. must be from second detector or first detector. some station are and some are not our local station is not distored.

I have -16.5 volts on 42 grid also tried a pm speaker sounds the same 250 volts on screen grid 233 volts on plate of 42

I will work on it somemore Thursday.
