The authors image of the tube lineup gives a clue, not tubes, but Valves.
Certainly looks like it has been serviced in recent times, the transformer with "pvc" lead-wires. Possibly a conversion from 220 ac to 120 ac? Chas Pliny the younger “nihil novum nihil varium nihil quod non semel spectasse sufficiat”
