Thanks for the info - makes sense that they might use an inferior cabinet to save costs. I actually just got a lacquered one a few days ago, but thought if the white one wasn't selling...I'll curb that thought 
Question on the knobs - the 38-12C I received has two knobs that don't seem to match pictures I've seen posted on other sites. My knobs have curved words on the face of them, one has "OFF" and "VOLUME" on it, the other "TUNE" and "TUNE". Do these sound right for the set? As always, thanks!
