The best resource for this kind of info is Ron's speaker spreadsheet - can be downloaded here:

44H: H-14 speaker, 10-1/2"
144B: K-23 speaker, 8"
So as you expected they're not the same size. As for whether or not the console speaker could fit into the 144B cabinet I do not know for certain, but I suspect not.
