Philco 370
#2

After I got the diode detector working I focused in on the speaker. The looks of the cone are deceiving. It was stiff as a piece of steel and had the fidelity of a bullhorn. Rich S is a good guy but I had some 8" foam edged cones and thought what the heck the worst thing that could happen Rich could repair. Got it apart to reveal several things. The pole gap was full of dirt and dust, the 8' replacement cone od was just about a perfect match, and doing the replacement was easier than I thought it would be.
Tried to shim the voice coil but couldn't get 3 in. Was able to tack the spider/vc in with hot glue in a couple of spots checking for rubbing. Went smooth as glass. Total investment .79c for the cone and about an hour service.

figure out what all those squiggly meant.

Now I think I've got!
