Newbie here.

My Mother has had a Philco stereo console in her basement collecting dust for years. It's quite handsome and i figured it would be nice to get it running as close to perfect as possible.

It is a stereophonic high fidelity model # M-1688-124. Cabinet is in good shape, minor wood work needed. FM stereo works well. Speakers sound a bit tinny, and the phonograph turntable is not working. Though it is getting power as i handle the arm and touch the bottom of the stylus (there is no needle), I can hear the sounds from the speakers. Also the top balance dial is not illuminating.

I've been on here for the last few hours trying to find any info about this model and schematics to no avail. I hope im not breaking any rules. I have a basic understanding of electronics and having inspected and cleaned up the inner workings, I feel I would like to try to restore it myself. My Ma has alot of old records and I think she would love to be able to listen to them.

Thanks in advance for your help.
