Just an FYI for anyone who likes Adams Dial Belts or other products they are closing at the end of this year. If you anticipate needing some belts for a project on the shelf now is the time to order.

I ordered several Zenith belts I'll be needing in the future.

So sad...by Al, take care of yourself.

I remember when GCHQ was going out of business. I ordered about $1K worth of grill cloth (I was still in business). It did seem pretty crazy, then. I have run out of several of the Zenith types (fortunately these are the ones being reproduced now though I still miss the GCHQ products). And, I am running low on some others - BUT it does not seem so crazy now.

I ordered a lot of grille cloth back then too Russ, not as much as you did, but I have a nice stock and don't regret it since many of those patterns aren't reproduced today. On the dial belts I just ordered enough for all my Zenith sets, which almost all need belts, and for my Fairbanks Morse. Hopefully someone will step in to fill the void that Adams leaves, or better yet, Al comes back after his health issues are addressed.
Best wishes for a full recovery Al.

Did you receive the belts you ordered yet? The site says that they ship next day.

Good News! Since Adams has closed another radio collector has stepped up and is now making high quality polyurethane round stock drive belts electronically welded and sized to order.
The collector is a member of ARF who has the screen name Diverted. Below is his story:
"Like many of you I was pretty disappointed when the dial belts site many of us used closed down at the end of last year. I'd bought from him many times and the belts were always consistent and very good. In February I bought a Zenith 9S244 chairside and immediately wondered how I was going to find belts for it. To make a long story short, after a ton of research, reading, practicing and buying too much money's worth of tools and supplies, I now have a website and the capability to offer high quality electrically welded polyurethane belts of the same construction and materials previously available.
Why am I doing this? First, it was borne out of necessity as I needed a solution to the problem of belt supply (I've never really trusted or had great luck with superglued rubber belts). Second, this hobby is a ton of fun and I wanted to keep the supply of this essential product going. I really loved the convenience and lack of headaches the old site offered; it was one-stop worry-free shopping, and I wanted to be able to continue that service for those who don't want to deal with the hassles of making their own belts.
Am I going to make any money? Probably very little ... at this point I want to cover my costs, which between paypal and credit card fees, shipping, tools and materials, website hosting etc etc etc ... are pretty high.....
The website is a work in progress (it's my first ever, and I'm learning) but it's functional. I will be upgrading it in the near future to offer a more intuitive and convenient ordering format. If anyone gets stuck, feedback is welcome.
Thank you! "

I think I communicated with him on an occasion during posting.
Oh...and he was the guy who pulled out from 38-690 deal which then came to me.

Renovated Radios do carry what you need.
As for the voltage, a wire should be at least 300V-rated.morzh — 11:13 PM |
