It appears that the prices for non-primo conditon radios has dropped quite a bit on ebay. I was the only bidder on a 37-675 that appears to be in good condtion but needs restoration. For $50 even the chassis is worth that much but to get a complete 675 for $50 is nice.

Wow, what a steal! I didn't even see that one.

I think I saw that one on eBay too. It was/is a De Luxe model, right? Congrats! 8)
Now why did this model originally cost so much more ($275) than the 37-116x ($195)? The 37-675x only has one central speaker, 12 tubes, and is not 'high fidelity' whereas the 37-116x had 4 speakers, 15 tubes, and IS high fidelity? I don't get it.

Claude, I almost bid on that. But the drive to get it, turned me off for right now. I was all set to hit that bid button, then I decided not to with about 30 seconds to go
Nice catch

I guess as with many of the 37 models you could get this one with the shadow meter or without and this one is without (magnetic tuning). It really appears to be a lot like my 38-1 with PP 6F6's with a 6F6 driver so the output should be 12-15 watts. It has 2 IF stages so it should have decent performance, I have someone that is willing to wrap it up and toss it on a greyhound bus so that covers the shipping issue. For the price with shipping I might have ~100-120 into this radio so that isn't too bad. Actually it is probably a better performer than the 38-1, when I went back I noticed the 38-1 doesn't have a 2nd IF and rather than using a 6J5 as an inverter feeding a 6F6 driver to the PP 6F6 outputs the 38-1 using a 6J5 inverter feeding two 6J5 drivers to the PP 6F6 outputs sucking up one extra tube for the same result.
PhilcoBenz, more than likely the $275 was a typo and it should have been $175. Normally there was about $15-25 difference between the standard and Deluxe model in 37 so I think the price was more like $175. The one nice thing is that the Deluxe model was the less produced model of the two types with the standard being over triple the total of the Deluxe.

You got a good deal on that set and you won't be disappointed in its performance. I restored a standard set a few years ago and was very impressed with it. I ended up selling it but it was tough to do. I have a 16X that I am going to keep and the two were a little too close electrically to justify keeping them both.
