Philco Transitone 46-250 Code 125.

The terminal strip under the tuning condenser in the back/top of chassis
#17

Ok I see from the photo there are not 3 terminals
#18

Mine has 3 terminals, one goes to ground and the other one it says to connect to goes to the speaker, so speaker voice coil is what your connecting to.
#19

Aha, this is what I thought.

Cause the speaker voice is GNDed to chassis.

Started well, soldered in the loop and the radio received across the dial loud and nice.

Then my wife caled me to solve a crisis - my daughter's imaginary mischievous friend, Goldielocks, threw her socks into the lobby chandelier. I turned the radio off, fetched the socks, my wife and my daughter spanked Goldielocks....I came back an the radio would not turn back on.

The volume pot switch.
Had to quit right when I was about to align the thing.
OK.

Wouldn't be the 1st time.

BTW.
The sch says short the antenna to GND when using loop only.
Why?
I tried it, it made the reception a bit less loud, as expected - it shunts the loop.
What's the idea with the shorting?
#21

Fixed the switch.

The striker was coal black, alcohol took care of it. Plus some Deoxit.
Cleaned the pot along the way.

Works again.
#22

Aligned it.

Works just fine!

Will try to find a repro back cover. Those wires from the loop are unsightly.

Hope this is it!

PS. Found on eBay and outside (same company, Retro-tronics).
Realized I only have one clip that holds it in the back.
Anyone knows where to get those?
#23

Like these?

Yep, those.

I cannot find them in Renovated radios using their main menu.

Aha...

"T" split pins for Securing Radio Backs (Tri)
These pins are used to hold the back onto a radio. These are newly manufactured and are identical to the originals. If necessary, holding power can be increased by bending them open before inserting them into the holes.

Dimensions: 5/8" long

Their search or menue functionality is next to nonexistent.
