hickok model 800 problem

Never did find where I had read about the "red case" Hickoks not doing well with the solid state 83 replacement. 

But gladly defer to Alan's input on this subject. 

Have been having fun experimenting with my latest Weston, a USN model OQ-3. (Model 788 )    

As primative as they are, I have yet to find any glaring differences in results in tube condition when comparing it to my other testers.
