Philco 620 Question
#1

I just obtained a nice Philco 620. Everything appears to be original. However, the tuning knob sticks out further from the chassis than the other three knobs. This causes a "gap" between the tuning knob and the chassis that doesn't look correct visually. Is this gap normal or is there a piece missing that fills this space?

It should have two concentic knobs, one for course tuning and one for fine tuning. It sounds like the outer one might be missing.

Hi Fred

Thank you for your message. I think you may have nailed it. The radio has the large outer knob but there is no inner knob. Now my challange is locating the inner knob used for fine tuning. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding where this inner knob can be obtained for my 620? My guess is that this same tuning knob is also used on several other similar Philco models...

Let me clarify: The tuning knob that my 620 currently has installed is the knob furthest away from the chassis. I believe this knob is used for general braod tuning. The knob that appears to be missing is the "inner" knob closest to the chassis that probably is used for fine tuning. If anyone knows where I can obtain the "inner" knob (or both) for that matter, please let me know. Thanks again!

Those knobs pop up often on Ebay. They're not rare so you should have no trouble finding one.

Also try Mike Koste, who posts here as "ekimetsok" , or David Frush. Both listed on my site's Resources page.
